Lakefront Living Helping Keep Tellico Lake Shorelines Summer Ready!

The team at Lakefront Living is back for the 3rd year, participating in the Shoreline Cleanup on Tellico Lake this March 28th.

Weather is getting into the 70’s again and lake enthusiasts are all very excited to play on our beautiful Tellico lake! Debris and sometimes odd objects collect along the shore lines from early flood water from the mountain run off.

Community residents, volunteers, and our lake team will be out on the shorelines the end of March doing our part to keep our lake clean and debris-free. Thousands of pieces and many hundreds of pounds of trash are removed from the lake and surrounding shorelines preventing pollution of the lake from washed up items but much more help is needed every year.

The Lake Team” at Lakefront Living, On The Lake Realty believe it is so very important to participate in this shoreline clean up each year. “It is amazing to see how much “Trash” is pulled from the banks after the winter season” Said Karen millikan of Lakefront Living Realty. “It is a real wonder our Lakes are as clean as they are”.

Items that have blown or floated off of docks and peoples backyards include: gas cans, plastic bottles, fishing poles and gear, life jackets, flower pots, lawn chairs and just about anything you would expect to see on someones dock or backyard in the summer months.

Folks just don’t anticipate the water levels ever getting high enough to wash away these items left on the dock at seasons end because they are very used to the summer lake level and believe the winter level will be much lower.

Over 60 Volunteers from one community helped at last years clean up!

But make sure to do it soon! Our Tennessee Lakes do fluctuate in water levels so we have to get to the trash before the waters rise and drag the debris into the lake, lost forever!
